Chenecua teaching Nutrition

Wow! Today was an amazing experience! Unfortunately we woke to the news that Kim's home had been robbed. Luckily everyone was okay and not home when it happened but Kim was scheduled to speak today and this really put a wrench in her day. Her and Stace stayed behind while Chenecua, Rupee, Todd, Melanie, and I headed to the slums for the conference for the women. When we arrived we were greeted by Beena, Shaji's wife, and had tea with her and got to get to know her. It was very nice. Then we headed up stairs for the conference. About 75 women actually came and listened to what we had to say. Shaji said these women had never been taught anything before. We taught on nutrition, sanitation, and just how to be a wonderful woman. At lunch time Kim, Stace, and Kevin met up with us and we went over to Beena and Shaji's place. We had a delicious meal, dessert, and tea. What a wonderful time. After lunch Kim spoke to the women and did an amazing job. We then gave each of the women a bag of goodies and said goodbye. They were amazing. Chenecua met a little girl named Bearna who gave her her bracelet. I met a little boy named Jaron and he was so cute! He loved taking pictures with my camera. The most moving part of the day was when Todd prayed for Shaji's son Martin who has been very sick. They cannot get good care for him here in Kolkata because the doctors just want to take their money. Martin wants to be a worship pastor someday and last night prayed for a new guitar because his had broke. Shaji told him that God would provide and He did. Tonight Todd gave Martin his guitar. It was so amazing to see. What a nice gift for this little boy. What a humbling day in the slums of Kolkata.
